Tengizchevroil (TCO) reduced air emissions by 71 percent with a corresponding 2.6 times increase in crude oil production volume between 2000 and 2020, an official at the TCO parent company – Chevron told Trend.
The official said that the health and safety of the company employees, operational safety and environmental protection are of primary importance to Tengizchevroil (TCO).
“TCO is committed to the continuous improvement of environmental performance. Since 2000, TCO has invested over $3.1 billion in projects to minimize environmental impact at the Tengiz field. This investment has enabled TCO to achieve reductions in flaring, improve wastewater treatment, increase water reuse, environmental education and dispose waste safely,” the official said.
In addition to this, the official noted, FGP-WPMP project has been implementing additional conservation actions on biodiversity in project area and outside.
The official went on to add that TCO’s total water reuse rate in 2020 was 49.2 percent.
“TCO continues its water conservation efforts by recycling domestic wastewater effluent, as well as treating and reusing it for industrial purposes. Over 35 types of waste are sent for recycling at TCO, by 2020, recycling/re-use of waste achieved 64 percent on the highest metric,” the official said.
