Volume of cargo shipment via Turkish Izmir port for 4M2021 unveiled

Over 2.52 million tons of goods were transshipped through the Turkish port of Izmir from January through April of 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, 156,168 tons of cargo were handled via Izmir port by ships flying the Turkish flag, and 2.37 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

“At the same time, no cargo was shipped in transit via the mentioned port,” the ministry noted.

Totally, over 124.9 million tons of cargo had been transported through the Turkish ports from January through April 2021.

Around 9.8 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag through the local ports. About 115.1 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the flags of other countries through the Turkish ports from January through April 2021.

Moreover, 24.5 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports during the reporting period. In general, 33.8 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports in April 2021.

Furthermore, 2.7 million tons of cargo were transported by the ships flying the Turkish flag in April 2021. At the same time, 31.1 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports by the ships flying the flags of other countries.

Thus, over 6.3 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in April this year.
