Maire Tecnimont has almost completed home office activities for Baku Refinery, Trend reports with reference to the company.
in February 2018, Tecnimont S.p.A. and KT–Kinetics Technology S.p.A. were awarded by the client SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic) Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) Lump Sum contract concerning a significant portion of the works for the modernization and reconstruction of the Heydar Aliyev refinery in Baku (Azerbaijan).
Home office activities are 99.8 percent complete, with manufacturing and delivery of materials at 98.2 percent and construction and pre-commissioning activities are at 75.5 percent. The total advancement of the project is 89.8 percent. The Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC) is expected by December 31, 2022, in accordance with the Settlement and Amendment Deed signed on December 11, 2020.
Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery plays a big role as the only oil refining complex in the South Caucasus region.
The refinery supplies fuel to the region and provides SOCAR's petrochemical enterprises with raw materials. Reconstruction of the refinery will greatly improve the quality of diesel fuel and gasoline, bring them in line with the Euro-5 standard, as well as create a stable and efficient raw material base for the Azerbaijani petrochemical industry. The renovation work is important from economic and environmental points of view.
