Iran builds several dams in Ilam Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 19

As many as 3 dams are currently being built in the Ilam Province (western Iran), the Deputy Governor of Ilam Province Ahmad Karami told Trend .

The deputy governor noted that these are Sikan, Meymeh and Chenareh dams.

According to him, the construction of the Chenareh dam has just begun and a total of 800 billion rials (about $19 million) has been allocated for construction work.

Karami added that efforts are also being made to allocate funds for the construction of other dams.

“It is estimated that 8.5 trillion rials (about $202 million) will be needed to complete the construction of the Sikan dam. About 260 billion rials (about $6.2 million) have been allocated for the dam in the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022). This dam has a capacity of 12 million cubic meters of water,” he said.

The deputy emphasized that a total of 14 trillion rials (about $333 million) is needed to build the Chenareh dam. This dam has a capacity of 77 million cubic meters of water.

Reportedly, 9.5 trillion rials (about $226 million) is needed to complete the construction of the Meymeh dam. This dam has a capacity of 72 million cubic meters of water.
