Trend:

Thermal Power Plants Holding Company is ready to supply power to steel factories and cooperate with industries that invest in power plant construction, said the managing director of Thermal Power Plants Holding Company, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Mohsen Tarztalab has indicated that the company is ready to cooperate with industries for the operation and installment of new power plants.

He noted that Thermal Power Plants Holding Company would help the industrial sector especially the country's steel industries and the company is identifying investors to renovate and assign old public power plants to the steel sector.

The official also mentioned that the company is ready to assign already built constructions for installing power plants to industries and in case these industries are ready to transform gas units to combined cycle and renovate old power plants, the government would guarantee that it would not cut the electricity in these industries.

"There is a 4,000-Megawatt gas power plant that can be promoted into the combined cycle, a 3,000-megawatt construction is ready for the installment of the new power plant and a 3,500-megawatt old power plant could be renovated that would be assigned to industries in form of tender," Tarztalab explained.

In this regard, the produced electricity in these power plants will be provided to industries to increase their production.

Iran Power Generation, Distribution and Transmission Company (Tavanir) has ordered steel and cement production factories in July to reduce electricity consumption by 10 percent, otherwise, their power supply will be cut. Following the power cuts in Iran, many steel factories reduced their production level that partially caused the increase in steel prices.
