Iran may launch new unit of Shahid Salimi TPP

The combined cycle unit of the Shahid Salimi (Neka) Thermal Power Plant in the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran) may be launched by the summer of 2023, if the needed funds are provided, an official of Iran’s Thermal Power Plants Holding Company (TPPH), Mahmoud Sadeghi said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The official said that the combined cycle unit of Shahid Salimi TPP is to generate 484 megawatt-hours of electricity. So, the combined cycle unit will have 2 gas units with a generation capacity of 162 megawatt-hours each, and 1 steam unit with a generation capacity of 160 megawatt-hours.

Sadeghi also added that a contract on the supply of equipment for this unit will be signed by October 1, 2021.

“In addition, the construction of a reservoir with a capacity of 32 million liters has been launched. Also, tender documents are being prepared for the construction of a station on the reduction of gas pressure,” he noted.

As reported, Iran's Shahid Salimi (Neka) TPP has four steam units, and each of them can generate 440 megawatts of electricity. The thermal power plant also has two gas units, each of which can generate 137.6 megawatts of electricity.

In addition, the TPP has one gas-steam unit with a capacity of 160 megawatts of electricity and two expansion turbines with a capacity of 9.4 megawatts each.

Iran's Shahid Salimi Neka TPP has the potential to generate a total of 2,214 megawatts of electricity and accounts for more than 4 percent of electricity generated in Iran.
