The water reserves of Iran's dams amounted to 19.5 billion cubic meters in the last water year (September 22, 2020 through September 22, 2021), Trend reports citing the statistics of Ministry of Energy of Iran.
According to the statistics, this is a decrease of 29 percent, compared to the previous year.
At present, the water capacity of Iran's dams is 50.5 billion cubic meters, of which 39 percent is full.
In addition, the inflow of water into the dams with natural precipitation amounted to 29.4 billion cubic meters in last year, which is 47 percent less than the previous. So, 55.7 billion cubic meters of water inflow the dams in the previous year, the statistics said.
According to the statistics, water outflow from Iran's dams also decreased by 34 percent. So, 37 billion cubic meters of water was inflow from the country's dams within the mentioned period.
In total, 199 dams operated in Iran last year. So, 3 dams were full by 90-100 percent, 12 dams by 70-90 percent, 35 dams by 50-70 percent, 31 dams by 40-50 percent, 118 dams by 40 percent full.
