IMF lowers breakeven oil price level for Azerbaijan

The international Monetary Fund (IMF) has lowered the fiscal breakeven oil price (oil price at which the fiscal balance is zero) forecasts for Azerbaijan for 2021 and 2022, Trend reports with reference to the organization.

IMF’s October Regional Economic Outlook shows that the fiscal breakeven oil prices for Azerbaijan in 2021 and 2022 stands at $76.4 per barrel and $66.1 per barrel, respectively, as compared to $82.5/bbl and $66.4/bbl in the April edition.

The external breakeven oil price (oil price at which the current account balance is zero) stands at $94.4/bbl for 2021 and $94.6/bbl in 2022, as compared to $98.6/bbl and 98/bbl in the previous report.

IMF estimates that the fiscal breakeven oil price for Azerbaijan amounted to $65.1/bbl in 2020, while the external breakeven oil price was equal to $62.6/bbl.
