By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran will reduce gas exports to neighboring countries, including Iraq, Turkey, Azerbaijan and other countries, Manager of the Dispatching Department of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Mohammad Reza Joulaei said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

According to the manager, this reduction will not be serious, because Iran is currently considered one of the most reliable gas suppliers in the world. If gas exports are severely reduced, it could hurt Iran's position at the international level.

Joulaei also added that gas consumption in Iran increased by 100 percent, compared to the same period last year due to the cooling of the weather in the country with the onset of rains about three weeks ago.

"For this reason, the gas refining capacity has been maximized and about 4 billion cubic meters of gas has been stored in the Sarajaeh and Shourijeh gas storage facilities, and full preparations have been made for the winter," he said.

Reportedly, Iran will extract daily 940 million cubic meters of gas this winter.

Iran's gas consumption for the last Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021) was about 701 million cubic meters daily, while gas exports - 46.3 million cubic meters daily.
