Azerbaijan eyes exporting electricity to Turkey, EU countries from 2024

Export of electricity from Azerbaijan to Turkey and European countries via Nakhchivan is planned to be launched in 2024, President of Azerenergy OJSC Baba Rzayev told Trend.

According to Rzayev, from 2023 through 2024, the company plans to build several substations and install a number of power lines.

"Today, within the project for the export of Azerbaijani electricity to Turkey and European countries, work is underway on the construction of a number of energy facilities, such as power lines and substations in the direction of Aghjabadi-Jabrayil and Imishli-Jabrayil. In particular, a substation will be built in Jabrayil itself, providing Nakhchivan with electricity," he said.

The CEO added that work on the construction of a substation in the Jabrayil district towards Nakhchivan with further export to Turkey and from Turkey to Europe is at the design stage.

"All work on the construction of substations and the installation of power lines is carried out at the expense of our company," stressed Rzayev.
