Iran may impose restrictions on increasing gas consumption

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 27

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran will impose some restrictions, if gas consumption in the country’s household sector exceeds the estimated quota, an official of the National Iranian Gas Company Jalal Nurmousavi told IRIB, Trend reports.

According to him, in recent days, daily gas consumption in Iran’s household sector has increased from 520 million cubic meters to 540 million cubic meters. Of course, the figure is expected to reach 600 million cubic meters in the coming days.

The official also added that the increase in gas consumption results in an imbalance in the country's gas pipelines. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce daily gas consumption in the plants from 121 million cubic meters to 100 million cubic meters.

"It was decided to supply the steel sector with 15 million cubic meters of gas per day, plants on cement production with 5 million cubic meters of gas per day and petrochemical plants with 50 million cubic meters of gas per day," Nurmousavi said.

The official emphasized that currently daily 814-820 million cubic meters of gas is pumped into gas pipelines in Iran.
