Iran beats new record on gas consumption

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 19

Iran’s daily gas consumption reached about 819 million cubic meters on January 18, 2022, which is a new record, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

According to the report, 626 million cubic meters of gas were consumed in residential and commercial facilities in Iran for the reporting period.

In addition, 94.5 million cubic meters of gas were consumed by the country’s thermal power plants.

Meanwhile, the consumption of industrial facilities for the mentioned date amounted to 98.3 million cubic meters of gas.

Thus, 6.8 million cubic meters of gas were consumed by cement plants, 19.4 million cubic meters – by steel plants, 52.6 million cubic meters – by petrochemical plants, and 19.5 million cubic meters – by other industrial facilities.

At present, Iran's gas extraction potential is about 1 billion cubic meters per day.
