The power plants of Azerbaijan’s Azerenergy OJSC generated about 25.04 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2021, thermal power plants - 23.9 billion kilowatt-hours, hydroelectric power plants - 1.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy told Trend.
“Azerenergy’s power plants increased electricity generation by 8.7 percent or 2.004 billion kilowatt-hours compared to 2020,” the message said.
According to the ministry, the power plants of the State Energy Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic generated 451 million kilowatt-hours of electricity (thermal power plants - 269.5 million kilowatt-hours, hydroelectric power plants - 130.3 million kilowatt-hours, solar power plants – 51.2 million kilowatt-hours), other power plants - over 2.3 billion kilowatt-hours, wind power plants of Azerishig OJSC - 66.1 million kilowatt-hours in 2021.
“More than 27.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated in Azerbaijan by all types of power plants in 2021,” the message said. “Electricity consumption in the country exceeded 23.4 billion kilowatt-hours.”
