The investment cost of the project for the construction of bp company’s solar power plant in Azerbaijan’s Jabrayil [liberated from Armenian occupation in the 2020 Second Karabakh War] will be nearly $200 million, Director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources Tabriz Ammayev told reporters, Trend reports
Ammayev made the remark during a media tour to Azerbaijan’s Garadagh district.
"As part of the agreement signed with bp for the construction of a solar power plant with a design capacity of 240 megawatts in Jabrayil, research work is underway," he noted. "Besides, it’s planned to restore small hydroelectric power plants in Karabakh. To date, four small hydropower plants have already been restored. This year, it’s also planned to build about five small hydroelectric power plants."
According to the agency’s head, one of the main priorities in the development of the energy sector in Azerbaijan is the implementation of projects jointly with the private sector.
"As part of the socio-economic development strategy of Azerbaijan until 2030, it’s planned to implement a number of similar projects," added Ammayev.
