BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 6. Azerbaijan plans to export 9.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Italy in 2022, a source at the state oil company SOCAR told the Tribune, Trend reports.
The source noted that the country plans to produce 70 million cubic meters of gas a day by the summer and to export 30-32 million cubic meters per day to Europe. Turkey is expected to receive 8.2 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas this year. The rest is exported to Georgia and is used for domestic consumption.
Azerbaijani gas supplies to Europe via the Southern Gas Corridor began on December 31, 2020. The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), the European leg of the Corridor, has recently reached the milestone of 10 billion cubic meters, which is the pipeline's full capacity. TAP's may be expanded to transport 20 billion cubic meters of gas per year, a decision that can be made after market tests.
To date, Azerbaijan’s gas exports to Europe via TAP have reached 10.9 billion cubic meters.
