BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 20. The work package for NEFERTITI project of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Turkey, which envisages production of chemical substances such as ethanol / iso-propanol from carbon dioxide by using solar energy, will be implemented in 2023, SOCAR Turkey told Trend.

The project will use CO2 as raw material. NEFERTITI will convert carbon dioxide and water into chemicals. By implementing this project, the company aims to increase its experience in diversifying the use of renewable energy sources.

“The system is being designed in parts. The designed parts are undergoing laboratory tests. Our work package for the project will be implemented next year,” said the company.

NEFERTITI will be among the projects to be funded by the European Commission's Horizon 2020 program. SOCAR Turkey R&D and Innovation Co., was among 10 international companies in the consortium, which got the right to receive funds.

The 389,000 Euros worth budget of NEFERTITI project will be fully covered by the Horizon 2020 program.
