BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 4. Black Sea oil terminal (Kulevi) of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Georgia underwent planned inspection of the Internal Floating roof systems, Trend reports via the terminal’s website.

“The company performed planned full inspection of the IFR system in some storage tanks with man entry. All works have been performed under permit to work, energy isolation and confined space entry procedures. Full inspection of IFR legs, structures, floating pontoons, anti-rotation and seal systems has been performed and no damage or deviation from operational parameters has been observed during inspection works. All inspection results have been recorded in appropriate report forms which have been registered in company CMSS,” reads a message on the terminal’s website.

Black Sea Terminal is always committed to continuously improve its environmental management system and as a part of its environmental policy, takes necessary measures to prevent pollution to environment. One of significant measures in prevention of environmental pollution is minimize emissions of hazardous matter to the atmosphere related with the transshipment of oil and oil products. Besides prevention of environmental pollution the terminal takes necessary measures also to minimize products natural losses which are directly related with the hydrocarbon emissions and has effect on the customer satisfaction.

In order to minimize such losses and emissions to the atmosphere the terminal operates internal floating systems in the storage tanks for light oil products. Operation of the internal floating roof systems is performed according to the terminal’s operational procedures.

Also continuous monitoring and maintenance of the internal floating roof systems is very important, which is included into the company's computerized maintenance management system. Preventive maintenance and monitoring program of the internal floating roofs include monitoring of important working parameters of the equipment, monitoring of the working cycle of the internal floating roof system, partial inspection of the internal floating roof via inspection manholes of the storage tanks and full inspection of the IFR via full emptying of the storage tank and man entry under full compliance with the confined space procedures.

Kulevi Oil Terminal and port is one of the first and the most important investments of SOCAR in Georgia.

The company provides a high level of service, and operates in compliance with international market requirements by following all rules and regulations. The operations began on May 16, 2008. The transshipment of oil products was launched in June. The total capacity of the terminal is 10 million tons of liquid bulk oil cargo per year. The total capacity of the tank farm of the terminal is 402,000 cubic meters.
