BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. Production wells will be drilled at the Uzen oil field in the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan, KazMunayGas National Company JSC (KMG) told Trend.
According to the company, in 2021, it carried out a recalculation of explored reserves (reassessment of the geological parameters of the reservoir of existing deposits) at the above field.
As a result of the recalculation, the increase in recoverable oil reserves amounted to 39.9 million tons. Thus, based on the results of additional exploration, up to 23 million tons of the reserves not involved in development were discovered in the marginal zones, and reserves of up to 17 million tons were identified in the developed deposits.
The identified reserves of existing deposits will be developed through the drilling of production wells planned by the annual production program, and business plan for 2022-2026 under the production contract No. 40 of Ozenmunaigas JSC.
At the same time, the increase in recoverable oil reserves will allow maintaining a stable level of production at the mature Uzen field and improving the capitalization of Ozenmunaigas JSC in the future, extending the period of profitable oil production at the Uzen field, added KMG.
