BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jun.25. Oil production from Azerbaijan’s Gum Deniz field was 439 Bopd in May, down by 21 Bopd from April 2022, Trend reports with reference to the Greenfields Petroleum Corporation.

The decrease was due to a slight decline in GD479 due to sand influx to the wellbore and ongoing well maintenance.

“Production rate of the Gum Deniz field averaged 58 tons/day. Delivery was 65 tons/day. During the reporting period, we did not deliver solution gas, the volume of gas required for oil refining and domestic demand for compressors was 2,460,000 cubic meters,” said the company.

Reportedly, in Gum Deniz, workovers in the GD474 and GD203 continued, and wells GD58, GD465, GD430, and GD716 were returned to production.

Greenfields Petroleum Corporation, through its wholly owned subsidiary Bahar Energy Limited (BEL), owns an 80 percent interest in the Exploration, Rehabilitation, Development and Production Sharing Agreement (the ERDPSA) with SOCAR and its affiliate SOCAR Oil Affiliate (SOA) in respect of the offshore block known as Bahar Gum Deniz (the Bahar Project), which consist of a Contract Rehabilitation Area (CRA) including the Bahar Gas Field and the Gum Deniz Oil Field and an Exploration Area (CEA).

The Gum Deniz Oil Field is located south of the Absheron peninsula, 21 km south of Baku, between Gum Island and the Bahar Gas Field. The Gum Deniz Oil Field extends from onshore Gum Island, which is 2.5 km from the mainland to the south in the Caspian Sea. The Gum Deniz Oil Field is found along the Fatmai–Gum Adasi anticlinal trend which includes the Bahar and Shakh Deniz structures. Oil in the Gum Deniz Oil Field is trapped in a north-south trending structure that is approximately 16 kilometres in length and 3 kilometres in width. The Gum Deniz Oil Field is structurally up-dip from the Bahar Gas Field. The fields are separated by a structural saddle. The Gum Deniz Oil Field has been on production since 1955.
