BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. A 127-kilometer gas pipeline from Iran’s Hormozgan Province to Kish Island was launched on August 22, 2022, Trend reports referring to Shana News Agency.

In this regard, an event was held in Tehran with the participation of Iran's Oil Minister Javad Owji, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Mohsen Khojasteh Mehr, and other officials.

Speaking at the event, Javad Owji said that the laying of a gas pipeline to Kish Island will allow save about $400 million in consumption of oil products and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) on this island.

“A total of $350 million has been spent on the laying of the mentioned gas pipeline, and 28 million cubic meters of gas can be transported daily via the pipeline. This means the funds spent will be returned within a maximum of one year,” he said.

The minister also noted that it will also contribute to the prevention of fuel smuggling with the construction of this pipeline.
