BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 30. The monthly quota of gasoline in Iran, which costs 30,000 rials (about $0.71) per liter for each private car, has been reduced by 100 liters, as of the beginning of the 5th month of the current Iranian year (August 23, 2022), Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Jalil Salari told reporters on August 30, Trend reports citing ISNA.

On November 15, 2019, a quota was set for the sale of gasoline to citizens in Iran in order to reduce gasoline consumption and prevent gasoline smuggling.

“Thus, the monthly quota of gasoline at 15,000 rials (about $0.35) for each private car is 60 liters, while at 30,000 rials per liter (about $0.71) is 150 liters,” Salari said.

The deputy minister added that local cars in Iran do not use more than 10 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers. However, about 310 liters of gasoline per month is intended for one person. No private car in the country travels more than 1,000 kilometers per month.

On August 28, 2022, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji said that gasoline consumption in Iran has exceeded the country's gasoline production in recent days. He noted that daily gasoline production in Iran was about 104 million liters, while daily gasoline consumption was 120-130 million liters in recent days.
