BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 31. Electricity generation decreased in June 2022 in Kazakhstan, Trend reports via the Bureau of National statistics under the country’s Agency for Strategic planning and reforms.

According to the bureau, this figure amounted to 8.3 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), which is 1.6 percent less compared to June 2021 and 1.6 percent less than May 2022.

In the first half of this year, electricity generation in Kazakhstan equaled 56.9 billion kWh, thus lowering by 1.2 percent on annual basis.

The country imported 169.1 million kWh of electricity in June 2022, which is eight percent less compared to June 2021, but 55.6 percent more in monthly terms.

Import of electricity by Kazakhstan amounted to 786.9 million kWh from January through June 2022, up by 4.3 percent on annual basis.

Besides, the country exported 128.4 million kWh of electricity in June 2022, which is 34.6 percent more compared to June 2021, and 33.6 percent more than in May 2022.

A total of 864.8 million kWh of Kazakh electricity was exported from January through June 2022, which is 50.1 percent less than in the same period last year.

According to the bureau, 8.3 billion kWh of electricity was sold locally in June 2022, which is 2.2 percent less compared to June 2021 and 2.5 percent less than in May 2022.

The volume of sale of electricity on the Kazakh domestic market in the first half of 2022 amounted to 56.8 billion kWh, thus growing by 0.7 percent compared to 1H2021.
