BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 10. Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Bolat Akchulakov named the reason for the delay in the repair work at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, Trend reports on November 10 via the Kazakh media.

“Earlier, we predicted completion of the repair by the end of October, but unfortunately the repair hasn’t been completed. Now the situation is ambiguous: firstly, replacing a specialized vessel for work took time. Moreover, this had to be done urgently,” Akchulakov said on the sidelines of the Kazakh Senate meeting. “Equipment of this type is usually contracted in advance. It took time to deliver the shipment. Despite the worldwide complications in logistics, we delivered it.”

According to him, there was a lack of additional diving equipment.

“It was delivered too. It’s not easy to replace the module – first hydro testing must be carried out. All this is done underwater. We can't control the weather and when storms start it can be dangerous for divers' health, and in general, this is a dangerous type of work,” the minister explained.

“Once the waves begin to rise, the divers cannot sink. Hydrotesting is now ahead, and nearly two days will take to turn on another remote mooring device,” he added.
