Azerbaijan reveals volume of gas transportation via South Caucasus Pipeline

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 17. A total of 17.070 billion cubic meters were transported through Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum (South Caucasus Pipeline) from January through October 2022 as compared to 14.365 billion cubic meters in the same period in 2021, Trend reports November 17 via State Statistic Committee of Azerbaijan.

As such, the volume of gas transportation via the South Caucasus Pipeline grew by more than 18.8 percent year-on-year.

Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum accounted for 53.8 percent of gas transported through Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines in the first 10 months of 2022, versus 50.5 percent in the same period in 2021.

Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines transported almost 31.707 billion cubic meters from January through October 2022, as compared to 28.433 billion cubic meters in the same period in 2021, showing a 11.5 percent growth.

The SCP shareholders are: bp (29.99 percent), LUKOIL (19.99 percent), TPAO (19 percent), SOCAR (14.35 percent), NICO (10 percent) and SGC (6.7 percent).

The SCP has been operational since late 2006, transporting Shah Deniz gas to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. The expanded section of the pipeline commenced commercial deliveries to Turkey in June 2018 and to Europe in December 2020.

The transfer of South Caucasus Pipeline Company (SCPC) technical operatorship from BP Exploration (Shah Deniz) Limited to SOCAR Midstream Operations LLC was completed on August 1,2022.
