BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 2. Iran launched a new Damghan Pasargad Solar Power Plant in Semnan Province in the north of the country, on February 2, 2023, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Energy Ministry.

The mentioned power plant has the capacity to generate 10 megawatt-hours of electricity.

In total, 6 million euros were spent by the private sector for the construction of the power plant that is located on an area of 20 hectares.

The Damghan Pasargad Solar Power Plant is expected to produce approximately 52.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.

As a result of the operation of the power plant, 73.4 million cubic meters of natural gas and 85,300 cubic meters of water annually will be saved, as well as 79,900 tons of pollutants will be prevented from spreading into the environment.

With the launch of the mentioned solar power plant, the electricity generation capacity of renewable energy power plants in Semnan Province has exceeded 25 megawatt-hours. Also, the number of renewable energy power plants in the province has reached 5.

On February 2, 2023, an event dedicated to the launch of the Damghan Pasargad Solar Power Plant was held in Iran’s Semnan Province. The event was attended by Iranian Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian and Deputy Energy Minister and the Chairman of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran, Mahmoud Kamani.
