BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 8. The 4th gas refinery of Iran’s South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) produced approximately 22 million cubic meters of sour gas, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through December 21, 2022), the Head of 4th Refinery of the SPGC, Behzad Salari said, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.

According to the official, the 4th gas refinery also produced 24 million barrels of gas condensate in 9 months.

“In addition, 374,000 tons of propane and 236,000 tons of butane were produced at the 4th refinery for the reporting period,” he added.

Salari noted that the 4th refinery produces about 85 million cubic meters of sour gas per day. The produced sour gas is transported to the company’s other refineries, as well as to the Aghajari oil field in order to increase crude oil production.

The official also pointed out that the 4th refinery processes gas extracted from the 6th, 7th and 8th phases of the South Pars gas field.

As reported, the 4th refinery of the South Pars Gas Company has a capacity to process 104 million cubic meters of sour gas, 138,000 barrels of gas condensate, 3,000 tons of propane gas, and 2,000 tons of butane daily.

Iran’s South Pars Gas Company processes rich gas extracted from the South Pars gas field.

The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
