BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb.20. The South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), or Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum has transported over 1.895 billion cubic meters of gas in January 2023, as compared to 1.683 billion cubic meters in the same month in 2022, Trend reports via Azerbaijan’s state statistical committee.

As such, the volume of transportation via SCP rose by 12.6 percent year-on-year. Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline accounted for 45.4 percent of gas transported via Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines in January 2023, as compared to 45.8 percent in the same period in 2022.

Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines transported a total of 4.178 billion cubic meters of gas in January 2023, as compared to 3.675 billion in January 2022, showing a 13.7 percent increase.

The SCP has been operational since late 2006, transporting Shah Deniz gas to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye. The expanded section of the pipeline commenced commercial deliveries to Türkiye in June 2018 and to Europe in December 2020.

SCPC shareholders are: bp (29.99%), LUKOIL (19.99%), TPAO (19.00%), SOCAR (14.35%), NICO (10.00%) and SGC (6.67%).
