Gas deliveries from Azerbaijan’s Bahar field significantly up

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb.22. Gas delivery from Azerbaijan’s Bahar field stood at 540,872 cubic meters per day in the fourth quarter of 2022, versus 454,358 cubic meters per day in the same period in 2021, Trend reports with reference to the US Greenfields Petroleum Company, which operates the project through its subsidiary BEOC.

As such, gas supplies from the field rose by more than 19 percent year-on-year.

Actual gas production from Bahar field amounted to 593,757 cubic meters per day in the fourth quarter of 2022, versus the budgeted volume of 950,116 cubic meters per day. The field’s gas output in Q4 2021 stood at 488,277 cubic meters per day. As such, the volume of production rose by 21.6 percent year-on-year.

The Bahar Gas Field is located in shallow water 40 km southeast of Baku, offshore in the South Caspian Basin. The Bahar structure is a north-south trending faulted anticline that is approximately 9.5 kilometers in length and 3.5 kilometers in width. The field was discovered in 1968.

The Bahar Gas Field consists of 45 offshore platforms including a central processing and metering platform to gather the gas for onward transport through a three 12-inch pipelines to the shore-based gas and liquid handling facilities. The platforms, in most cases are built on 24 to 30 pilings each in an average water depth of about 16 meters.
