Electricity generation at Iran’s Rey TPP increases, ministry says

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 25. Power generation of Iran’s Rey Thermal Power Plant in Tehran Province increased by 5 percent, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through February 19, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Executive Director of Rey Power Generation Management Company Hamid Badorestani said, Trend reports citing Iranian Energy Ministry.

In 11 months, this thermal power plant generated a total of 2.32 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, the director said.

“Of the mentioned volume, approximately 2.3 billion kilowatt-hours have been supplied to Iran's electricity network," he added.

Badorestani also pointed out that 21 gas turbines of the station have been overhauled in the past several months. The goal is to be ready to generate maximum electricity next summer.

Iran's Rey Thermal Power Plant has a total of 29 gas turbines and the generation capacity of this power plant is 979.4 megawatt-hours.

At present, 21 gas turbines of the TPP are operating and can generate 754 megawatt-hours of electricity.
