BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 19. Greece has imported a total of 846.1 million cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan from January through May 2023, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, told Trend.
The imports stood at 163 million cubic meters in May, as compared to 157.4 million cubic meters in April, showing a 3.6 percent increase month-on-month.
The total amount of spending of Greece on natural gas purchases from Azerbaijan is 465.7 million euros in the first five months of 2023.
Around 68.8 million euros was spent in May, versus 65.4 million euros in April, growing by 5.2 percent.
Azerbaijan’s energy ministry estimates that the country exported 4.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Europe from January through May 2023. Gas exports as a whole increased by 9.6 percent year-on-year.
Azerbaijan supplies gas to Europe via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), the final leg of the Southern Gas Corridor. Its capacity is 10 billion cubic meters expandable to 20 billion cubic meters per year.
