BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 28. The STAR Refinery, owned by Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR in Türkiye, has witnessed a significant increase in its naphtha production, Trend reports.
In May of this year, the refinery produced 135,167 tons of naphtha, compared to 122,711 tons during the same period in 2022.
According to data from Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), this represents a notable 10.2 percent surge in naphtha production at the refinery.
SOCAR Türkiye has ambitious plans to process more than 12 million tons of oil at its STAR Refinery in 2023. To facilitate the production of petrochemical products, the refinery utilizes crude oil sourced from the Black Sea region, Africa, and various other countries.
The STAR Refinery commenced its operations in October 2018. With an annual processing capacity of around 10 million tons, the STAR Refinery is equipped to process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
