BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 10. A solar power plant with the capacity to generate 10 megawatts of electricity per year was launched in the same named county of Iran’s Semnan Province in the north of the country on August 10, 2023, Trend reports.
In total, 1.4 trillion rials (about $33.3 million) were spent on the construction and commissioning of this station.
The mentioned station was built by Iran's Pooya Energy Production and Development Company.
With the launch of the station, 10 people were employed.
Iran's Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade Abbas Aliabadi and other officials attended the event regarding the launch of the station.
At present, the power generation capacity of Iran's all power plants, including thermal, hydroelectric, nuclear, renewable, etc., is approximately 91,000 megawatt-hours. Of this, 82 percent is accounted for by the country’s thermal power plants.
Overall, Iran's power plants generated 359 million megawatt-hours of electricity over the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022). Of the volume mentioned, approximately 95 percent accounted for the country’s thermal power plants.
