Volume of oil transportation via BTC increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 18. The volume of oil transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline amounted to 17.6 million tons from January to July 2023, Trend reports.

According to the data of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, the volume of oil transportation amounted to 12 million tons in the same period last year.

In addition, oil transportation by BTC increased by 46.54 percent year-on-year.

Moreover, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan transported through the main oil pipelines of Azerbaijan 23.076 million tons of oil, which is 76.3 percent for the first seven months of 2023.

The BTC transported 14.706 million tons of Azerbaijani oil, which is 83.5 percent of the total volume supplied through this pipeline. In addition, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan transported 2.9 million tons of oil, which is 16.5 percent of the total volume supplied through this pipeline.

The volume of transit oil transportation via BTC for the first seven months of 2022 amounted to 2.6 million tons.

The BTC pipeline currently transports mainly crude oil from Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG)and condensate from Shah Deniz. Furthermore, volumes of oil and condensate from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan continue to be transported via BTC.

The shareholders of BTC Co. are: BP (30.1 percent), SOCAR (25 percent), MOL (8.9 percent), Equinor (8.71 percent), TPAO (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), TotalEnergies (5 percent), ITOCHU (3.4 percent), INPEX (2.5 percent), ExxonMobil (2.5 percent) and ONGCVidesh (2.36 percent).
