BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 28. The STAR refinery owned by Azerbaijan's state oil company (SOCAR) in Türkiye increased jet fuel production in June 2023 by 33 percent year-on-year, Trend reports.

The refinery produced 120,548 tons of jet fuel in June 2023, while in the same month of 2022, the figure was 90,054 tons, according to data from Türkiye's Energy Markets Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

In total, Türkiye's refineries produced about 533,701 tons of jet fuel in June this year, which is 61,657 tons, or 13 percent more than in June last year.

When demand for jet fuel declined due to COVID-19-related restrictions, STAR promptly shifted its 1 million-ton jet fuel production capacity to diesel production. After the restrictions were lifted, the plant resumed jet fuel production to meet growing demand.

The $6 billion STAR plant was commissioned in October 2018. About $3 billion of the project costs were covered by debt financing.

The STAR plant has an annual processing capacity of 10 million tons. It is capable of processing 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
