ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 15. The TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) gas pipeline and the TAP (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan) power transmission line will not only satisfy Pakistan's energy needs on a long-term basis, but will also open up new opportunities for regional cooperation, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan, Atadjan Movlamov said, Trend reports.
The ambassador made the remarks at a meeting with the President of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) of Pakistan Dr. Khurram Tariq.
According to Movlamov, the 1,830-kilometer-long gas pipeline has a design capacity of 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year, and TAP will help meet Pakistan's electricity needs, the ambassador noted.
He also noted that Turkmenistan has already begun to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Pakistan by road, and also added that 50 trucks have been delivered at the moment.
In turn, Tariq highly appreciated the cooperation with Turkmenistan in the energy sector and said that both countries should also focus on bilateral trade, and also stressed the need to establish direct ties between the business communities of the two countries.
Meanwhile, Faisalabad is a city and the administrative center of the district of the same name, located in the Punjab province of Pakistan, the third-largest city in Pakistan after Karachi and Lahore.
