BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 4. Electricity production of Iran’s Yazd Thermal Power Plant in the Yazd Province (central Iran), increased by 19 percent in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023) compared to the same period last year, Managing Director of Yazd Power Generation Management Company Mohammad Hassan Jamaladdini said, Trend reports.
According to Jamaladdini, the thermal power plant generated approximately 2.88 million megawatts of electricity in 6 months.
“Of the mentioned volume of electricity, 20 percent produced by the TPP’s steam units and 80 percent by gas units,” he added.
The director also said that during 6 months, Yazd TPP fulfilled 61 percent of the annual plan.
Iran's Yazd Thermal Power Plant has two gas units with a capacity to generate 162 megawatt-hours of electricity each, and one steam unit with a capacity to generate 160 megawatt-hours of electricity. In total, the thermal power plant can generate 484 megawatt-hours of electricity.
Overall, Iran’s thermal power plants generated over 337 million megawatts of electricity in the past year (from September 23, 2022, to September 22, 2023), which means they produced an average of 1 million megawatts per day. This is an increase of 3 percent compared to the previous similar period (from September 23, 2021, to September 22, 2021).
