BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 9. SOCAR AQS, an integrated drilling and well services management company, has successfully completed its first-ever sidetrack well on Platform No. 8 within the Gunashli field - an endeavor known for its drilling complexity, Trend has learned from the company.

The sidetrack well operation reached its objective by penetrating the Fasila formation and subsequently handed over to SOCAR's Azneft Production Unit, a long-term client of SOCAR AQS. Remarkably, the sidetrack well was safely drilled to a depth of 2,985 meters, setting the stage for enhanced production rates upon completion.

Samir Mollayev, the General Director of SOCAR AQS, emphasized the significance of sidetrack well drilling, particularly in revitalizing wells that have been operational for many years. Mollayev stressed that the Gunashli field alone houses over 300 wells in need of such measures, making the drilling of sidetrack wells paramount. This strategic approach not only bolsters the sustainability of oil production within the nation but also elevates well productivity and enhances the overall efficiency of drilling operations.

Established in 2007, SOCAR AQS stands as an integrated drilling and well services management company forged through collaboration between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), Nobel Energy, and Absheron Qazma LLC (AQS).
