BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 25. Iran’s Shahid Rajaee Thermal Power Plant in the Qazvin Province (northern Iran) generated 911 million kilowatts of electricity in the 7th month of the current Iranian year (September 23 through October 22, 2023), compared with the same time last year, Director of the Shahid Rajaee TPP Abolfazl Mutabha said, Trend reports.
Of the mentioned volume, 444 million kilowatts were generated by the TPP’s combined cycle units and 467 million kilowatts by steam units, Mutabha added.
In general, Shahid Rajaee TPP generated over 7.66 billion kilowatts of electricity in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2023).
Meanwhile, the Shahid Rajaee Thermal Power Plant has 13 units. Four of them are steam units, each with a generation capacity of 250 megawatt-hours, and the rest are combined-cycle units. In total, the TPP can generate 2,040 megawatts of electricity.
There are currently 616 power units operating in 134 TPPs in Iran. The power generation capacity of the country's thermal power plants is 74,198 megawatt-hours.
At present, the power generation capacity of Iran's all power plants, including thermal, hydroelectric, nuclear, renewable, etc., is approximately 91,000 megawatt-hours. Of this, 82 percent is accounted for by the country’s thermal power plants.
