BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 10. Azerbaijan exported electricity worth $330.4 million from January through September 2023, Trend reports.
According to data from Azerbaijan's Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, monetary exports of electric energy surged by $294 million, or nine times ($36.4 million), compared to the same period in 2022.
Azerbaijan sold electricity worth $15.4 million in total beginning in September 2023. The main market for Azerbaijan's green energy is Europe, and there is already a particular scheme in place to deliver electricity from renewable sources.
In addition, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary signed a strategic partnership agreement on December 17, 2022, which provides for the construction of an energy bridge from the Caucasus region to Europe. As part of the agreement reached, it is expected to build the Black Sea Energy submarine cable with a capacity of 1000 MW and a length of 1,195 kilometers. The cable will be intended for the supply of green electricity produced in Azerbaijan through Georgia and the Black Sea to Romania for subsequent transportation to Hungary and the rest of Europe. This will allow for the supply of up to four gigawatts of green energy.
