BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 10. Iran's export of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) rose by 25 percent in value and 30.6 percent in volume during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 to October 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, head of Iranian Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Products Exporters' Union Hamid Hosseini said, Trend reports.

Hosseini mentioned that Iran exported 6.76 million tons of LPG worth $1.2 billion in 7 months, while the previous year’s figure was about 5.18 million tons worth $964 million.

He also said that Iran’s LPG production was at a suitable level, with an average of 12 million tons of LPG being produced daily in oil and gas processing plants.

The official added that since 97 percent of the country had access to natural gas, the demand for LPG was low. He did not specify the destinations of the LPG exports.

In Iran, natural gas is mostly used for residential and small commercial purposes, while only some refineries use LPG.
