BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 16. Iran plans to build 50 megawatt-hour solar power plants in Bushehr province, located in the south of the country, the CEO of Bushehr Electricity Distribution Company Gholamreza Heshmati, said, Trend reports.
According to Heshmati, the private sector will invest in the construction of these plants, which has been approved by the Ministry of Energy of Iran.
The CEO said that three counties in the province will host the solar power plants: Tangestan with 30 megawatt hours, Dashti, and Deylam with 10 megawatt hours each.
He pointed out that Bushehr Province has a favorable geographical location for solar energy generation, which makes it appealing for the private sector.
Currently, Iran has a renewable energy capacity of roughly 1,090 megawatts, largely from solar power facilities.
The country has begun the construction of 24 new solar power facilities with a total capacity of 1,500 megawatts in early December.
