BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 27. Iranian Central Oil Field Company (ICOFC) has boosted its gas output from its fields by 12 million cubic meters daily since the start of the current winter season (December 21, 2023), Trend reports.
According to the report, the Aghar gas field’s production went up by 4 million cubic meters per day, and the Dalan gas field’s production increased by 2 million cubic meters per day.
At the same time, the Khangiran gas field and the Shourijeh D underground gas facility also raised their production by 3 million cubic meters each.
The Aghar gas field was discovered in 1972 near the city of Dey. Production in this field began in 1998. The field has the capacity to produce 28 million cubic meters of gas.
Iran’s Dalan Field is located near Farashband City. It was discovered in 1975 and started production in 1992. This field has the capacity to produce 22.5 million cubic meters of gas.
Khangiran gas field, located near the city of Sarakh, was discovered in 1969 and started production in 1984. It is reported that 70 million cubic meters of gas have been produced from the field.
The Shourijeh D underground gas storage facility, located in Razavi Khorasan Province, was launched in two phases. The first phase was completed in 2022, with a capacity of 2.25 billion cubic meters.
The second phase was initiated in December 2021 with a contract worth $2.2 billion between Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company and MAPNA Group. The contract involves drilling 28 wells, building a gas collection center, and installing compressors and other equipment. The second phase is expected to be completed in three years and remain operational for 20 years.
Once both phases are finished, Shourijeh D will be able to store up to 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas, which will help ensure the country’s gas supply during the cold months.
The Iranian Central Oil Fields Company has 84 oil and gas fields in 11 provinces of Iran. So far, 13 gas fields and 13 oil fields have been developed.
At present, the ICOFC has the capacity to extract about 250,000 barrels of crude oil and 250 million cubic meters of gas per day.
The company produced a total of 17.4 million barrels of crude oil, 64.3 billion cubic meters of gas, and 15.7 million barrels of gas condensate in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).
