BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 28. Iran has increased its gas production by 30 million cubic meters per day since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023) to date, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji said, Trend reports.
The minister noted the boost was achieved due to the work done on the phases of South Pars gas field, as well as increasing production from gas fields in Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC).
Owji also said that gas consumption in Iran dropped by 5 percent (15 million cubic meters per day) in the past 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024).
He added that Iran reduced gas consumption by 11 percent since the start of winter season in the country (December 22, 2023).
Owji also said that Iran’s gas network reached a record volume of 851 million cubic meters of gas yesterday.
Iran stands second in the world for gas reserves, with about 34 trillion cubic meters of gas. The county's gas production capacity is currently more than 1 billion cubic meters per day.
On average, Iran currently produces about 259 billion cubic meters of gas annually and more than 800 million cubic meters daily.
