IEA notes increase in Azerbaijan's gas output and shipments to EU

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 29. The International Energy Agency (IEA) has published a study on the gas market, highlighting a significant growth in the production of gas in Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan, Trend reports via the IEA report.

The authoritative agency noted that in 2023, gas production in Azerbaijan increased by four percent (1.5 billion cubic meters), allowing Azerbaijan to boost gas exports to the EU.

Kazakhstan's gas production also increased by 1.5 billion cubic meters (six percent), while in Turkmenistan, the growth in 2023 reached seven percent (or six billion cubic meters), with the additional gas primarily directed towards China.

Gas production in Uzbekistan dropped by 10 percent last year (or 5 billion cubic meters), and in Russia, the decline was also five percent (more than 30 billion cubic meters of gas).

The data from the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan shows that in 2023, Azerbaijan's gas production amounted to 48.3 billion cubic meters, representing an increase of over 3.2 percent compared to 2022.
