ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, February 11. The volume of natural gas produced in Turkmenistan last year amounted to more than 80.61 billion cubic meters, Trend reports.

Dovletgeldi Amanmukhammedov, Chairman of Turkmenistan's State Statistics Committee, made this announcement during an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on February 9, 2024.

He highlighted that Turkmenistan's liquefied natural gas production climbed by 1.1 percent last year compared to the same period the previous year.

Furthermore, Amanmukhammedov stated that last year there were positive indicators in the non-governmental sector of the economy, indicating noticeable growth and stability.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan is actively expanding its energy sector, with a focus on the expansion of the gas sector.

These efforts deserve attention in light of the country's vast natural gas reserves, and they include ambitious plans covering the extraction, transportation, and export of this crucial energy resource.

According to the Turkmengaz State Concern, the country's hydrocarbon resources are estimated at more than 71 billion tons of oil equivalent, of which more than 20 billion tons are oil and more than 50 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.
