BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. The value of gross domestic product in Iran's oil and gas sector decreased by 3.7 percent in the first 9 months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023) compared to the previous year, the statistics of Iran's Central Bank said, Trend reports.
According to the statistics, the value of GDP in the oil and gas sector for 9 months amounted to about 8.94 quadrillion rials (about $213 billion) in current prices.
The data reads, that the value for the same period last year was
9.28 quadrillion rials (about $221 billion), and Iran's oil and gas
sector contributed 8.6 percent of the country's total GDP.
Meanwhile, the value of GDP for nine months was 104 quadrillion
rials (about $2.48 trillion) at current oil prices. When crude oil
is considered across nine months, Iran's GDP increased by 37.6
percent compared to the same period previous year.
To note, the Central Bank of Iran announced GDP in statistics in prices of 7 years ago (from March 21, 2015, through March 20, 2016), which are considered both current prices and an index for the country. The information contains current prices.
