BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. Azerbaijan significantly increased its natural gas exports to Türkiye in March 2024, achieving a 10.63 percent rise from the same period last year, Trend reports referring to the data released by Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).
Exports surged from 922.81 million cubic meters in March 2023 to 1.021 billion cubic meters.
This growth positioned Azerbaijan as the second-largest exporter of natural gas to Türkiye during the reporting period.
Russia maintained its leading role, exporting nearly 1.807 billion cubic meters, marking a substantial 33.48 percent increase compared to March 2023. Iran followed as the third-largest exporter, with 247.5 million cubic meters of natural gas, a remarkable decrease of 3.7 times from the previous year's figure of 916,7 million cubic meters.
Overall, Türkiye experienced a decline in its gas imports by 5.27 percent, reducing from almost 4.558 billion cubic meters in March 2023 to approximately 4.318 billion cubic meters in March 2024.
Pipeline gas imports slightly rose by 0.17 percent to 3.075 billion cubic meters, while LNG imports saw a significant decrease of 16.49 percent, totaling 1.242 billion cubic meters.
