BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. In March 2024, the STAR oil refinery of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye reduced its production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), churning out 14,068 tons compared to 18,547 tons in the same month of 2023, Trend reports.

According to Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), LPG production at the refinery decreased by 24.1 percent year-on-year.

The STAR refinery, with an investment cost of $6.3 billion, commenced operations in October 2018, with approximately $3.3 billion of the project's cost covered by loans. With an annual refining capacity of about 10 million tons and the capability to process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day, the refinery plays a pivotal role in the region's energy landscape.
