BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. The volume of transportation via the Serbian-Hungarian gas interconnector from January through May 2024 stood at nearly 3.032 billion cubic meters, the project operator FGSZ told Trend.
“The volume of supplies since the beginning of commercial operation exceeded 13.9 billion cubic meters,” said the company.
The Serbian-Hungarian Gas Pipeline is an operational gas pipeline connecting Serbia and Hungary. It spans from Serbia to Hungary, passing near Kiskundorozsma, Hungary, and extending to Városföld, Hungary.
The project was announced in June 2019 by Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, and Serbia's Minister of Energy and Mining, Aleksandar Antić.
In June 2020, FGSZ announced the approval of the development of a new Serbian-Hungarian interconnector capacity capable of transporting 6 bcm/y.
According to the European Hydrogen Backbone project, there are plans for a Hydrogen-ready expansion of the pipeline, set to be operational by 2030.
