BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 2. Bulgaria has reached an agreement with Azerbaijan on the growth of Azerbaijani gas supplies to this country for domestic consumption and possible transit, an informed source told Trend.
"Following the results of negotiations on July 1 in Baku during the visit of Bulgaria's energy minister, the parties agreed that Azerbaijani gas supplies to Bulgaria will increase by 0.5 bcm compared to the figure of 2023," the source noted.
Meanwhile, Bulgaria purchased 1.25 bcm of gas from Azerbaijan in 2023.
"It is not excluded that already this year, Azerbaijan will be able to supply Bulgaria with over 1.7 bcm of gas. Earlier, the forecast for 2024 was 1.5 bcm," the source said.
According to him, the volume of gas supplies to Bulgaria at the new level of 1.70–1.75 bcm per year can be kept for several years.
To note, Bulgaria has been receiving Azerbaijani gas since 2021, when the volume of deliveries was about 0.3 bcm.
